Over the weekend we stayed in the city and spent two wondrous days relaxing. By ‘relaxing’ I mean we expertly crafted and designed a little note to our neighbors in Grey Lynn to let them know we want to buy villa and distributed over 100 of them around the neighborhood by foot to any house that seemed to fit our wish list. So far we’ve had three responses so we’re pretty happy. One told us our price was too low (fair enough), another said he was renting from his daughter and he’d pass on our message, and the third said he wasn’t interested but told us to persevere and something would come up. This is why we love Kiwis. We’ve got our fingers crossed for more responses today after our friendly neighbors check their mail.
We’re open to ideas on finding a house if anyone out there is willing to share. We’ve had little luck with the real estate agents and there’s hardly anything on the market thanks to the media which has managed to scare every homeowner into believing there aren’t buyers out there. Trust me. If you go to an open home you practically have to push people out of your way to see the place. There are plenty of buyers out there (and plenty of Looky Lou’s too) but we haven’t noticed a shortage..if anything we’ve seen a growing number in the amount of buyers…and of competition.
So! For those of you in Grey Lynn who might be thinking about selling your house here’s what we’re looking for.
- A villa with original character and at least 3 bedrooms
- A driveway…or a place where we can put our trailer to get it off of the street
- A sunny yard so we can grow some veges
