Melbourne, we ♥ you

Me, Seb and Chiara on the tramBecause I am the luckiest girl in the world (there must be no other reason) mon amour surprised me with a trip to Melbourne for the weekend. Up until we arrived at the airport I had no idea where we were going but, to be honest I did have a wish list and Melbourne was at the top, so you can imagine how overjoyed I was when the cat was finally let out of the bag. Well, as overjoyed as you can get at 3:30 am when you haven’t arrived at that hour by partying all night long.

New recipes section

Today I’m adding a news category to my site…recipes. Why?

Because I can! Buwhahahahahahaha.

Actually the truth is I do a lot of cooking and I enjoy it which isn’t something I could say in the past. Before my repertoire used to consist of 100 different ways of making macaroni and cheese. Some of my inventions were genius while others were

odds are…

You are 6 times more likely to die from hot weather than from a terrorist attack.

You are 12 times more likely to die from accidental suffocation in bed than from a terrorist attack.

…and knowing me…you are 404 times more likely to die in a fall than from a terrorist attack.

Don’t you feel better now?

Hey y’all

There isn’t much to write about today but I wanted to remind everyone that we are somewhat documenting the construction of our cottage in bush (forest) in Coromandel. That’s the little peninsula that sticks out on the right side of Zoo Neeland. It takes about two and a half hours to drive there from Auckland…2 hours on the ferry. You should visit sometime.

If you can’t make it anytime soon you can check out the progress here.

How optimistic are you?

I’m generally optimistic. I had the good fortune to underwrite Captain [Jacques] Cousteau’s voyages for 10-15 years. I asked him once if he thought we were gonna make it. He said, ‘Even if we knew for sure we weren’t going to make it, what could men of good conscience do but keep trying?‘

Quote from an interview on climate change with Ted Turner and Jeffrey Sachs.

Success!

Dear family and friends. You can all stop asking me where the photos are now. They are here. I have even managed to update them to the latest set which just happens to be last week. Fancy huh?

There were, unfortunately, some casualties in the whole move. Your comments were lost. Sorry. My image descriptions and witty little side-notes were lost too. Shame. But the good news is you can still see the photos and in your mind you can imagine a story. Just make something up. It’s like a picture book without words. We all liked those.

ok, here we go…

Righto.

So far the greatest thing about this blog is that no one knows about it. How great is that? In my world that’s pretty damn good. That will give me some time to get the photos up before you all start bitching at me for not having the photos up. I mean that in the nicest possible way.

For the record I have used a template that I didn’t design. It’s even a FREE (gasp!) template. Yeah that’s right. I’m cheap but let I am not lazy. I have more things on my to-do list than I will be able to accomplish in this year so I’ve got to start cutting corners somewhere.

That’s it for my excuses. I’ll let you all know about this lil ole blog when the photos are up. Until then, go have a martini and relax.
